I was reading "Light is the New Black" by Rebecca Campbell the other day and came across this passage that really spoke to me so I wanted to share it with you all.
"You are not for everyone"
The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, will point blank not like you. But it is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. They are your people. You are not for everyone and that's OK. Talk to the people who can hear you.
Don't waste your precious time and gifts trying to convince them of your value, they won't ever want what you're selling. Don't convince them to walk alongside you. You'll be wasting both your time and theirs and will likely inflict unnecessary wounds, which will take precious time for you to heal. You are not for them and they are not for you; politely wave them on, and continue along your way. Sharing your path with someone is a sacred gift; don't cheapen this gift by rolling yours in the wrong direction.
Keep facing your true north.
We all encounter so many different people through our days, wether it be through work or socially. This is a good way to looking at the people who you just can't seem to get along with. Don't waste your time focusing on those people, be grateful for the ones who do love you.
You can be whoever you want to be. September 15, 2015 11:02
Thinking about the future can really freak me out. It is always nice to remind myself that I have the power to create the future that I want. Although it can be hard to remember this sometimes, it is important to spend your time focusing on what you want to happen and how you want your life to look. Don't waste your precious brain power on the small stuff and think about your big picture.
This quote really helps me and I try to re-read it frequently.
"There is inside you all of the potential to be whatever you want to be
all of the energy to do whatever you want to do.
Image yourself as you would like to be, doing what you want to do,
and each day, take one step towards your dream.
One morning you will awake to find that you are the person you dreamed of
doing what you wanted to do simply because you had the courage to believe
in your potential and to hold on to your dream"
Carve out 5 minutes of your day to mediate on what you want your life to look like.
A little mid-week inspiration September 02, 2015 09:09
It is another Wednesday in another busy work week. I read this poem this morning during my meditation session and it really made me think.
By: J.B. Rittenhouse
I bargained with Life for a penny, and Life would pay no more,
However I begged at evening when I counted my scanty score
For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial's hire, only to learn dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have willingly paid.
Ask the universe and you shall receive. Don't be afraid to work for what you want out of this life.
